The mission of our lab is to find innovative ways to promote sustainable physical activity and to improve mental health, cognitive health, and social well-being. Current projects in the lab are investigating how dogs affect physical activity and health-related quality of life. We are interested in recruiting students who are interested in the human-animal bond and dog walking research, but certainly welcome applicants with broader interests, including but not limited to the following:

  • Contemporary physical activity behavior change science, including studying the role of affect, habit, and identity

  • Interventions to promote outdoor physical activity (e.g., dog walking, hiking, gardening, outdoor play)

  • Yoga and other mindful physical activity interventions

  • Dance and other social physical activity interventions
